The Department of Public Works announced today that the reopening of Jacoby Road between Rosedale Road and Ecker Lane in Harmar Township has been delayed. The closure, which was estimated to end this month, is now expected to end in May of next year. That will be followed by another month of lane restrictions and flagging.
The $1.1 million project, which includes replacement of Little Deer Creek Bridge No. 5, drainage work, guide rail and signage installation, paving, line painting, and other miscellaneous construction, began on July 17, 2019. It was delayed in October due to unanticipated subsurface conditions during construction that required additional materials to be ordered. Weather restrictions since then have further delayed the project.
Public Works and its contractor, Carmen Paliotta Contracting, Inc., have determined that the project’s remaining work cannot be completed before temperatures consistently become too cold, as concrete work and paving require temperatures above 40 degrees. Therefore, construction will be shut down until April 1, 2020.
Traffic will continue to be detoured using Nixon Road, Hite Road, Allegheny Valley Expressway (Route 28), Indianola Road (Route 910), and Rich Hill Road.
