PennDOT District 11 is announcing overnight closures of the ramp from the Duquesne-McKeesport Bridge to southbound Route 837 in the City of Duquesne, Allegheny County will begin Monday night, June 11 weather permitting.
Reconstruction work will begin Monday at 8 p.m. on the ramp that carries traffic from the Duquesne-McKeesport Bridge to southbound Route 837. Weeknight closures will occur from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through late August. Additionally, weekend closures will occur. All traffic will be detoured.
- From the Duquesne-McKeesport Bridge Route 837, continue past the closed ramp toward northbound Route 837
- Turn left at the traffic light at Center Avenue/South Linden Street intersection
- Turn left onto southbound Route 837
- End detour
The work is part of the $2.42 million preservation project at the Duquesne-McKeesport Bridge. Work includes expansion dam replacement, pier repairs, drainage improvements, and an epoxy overlay on the deck which will require weekend ramp closures. Additional improvements include work at the Route 837 intersection with Center Street/South Linden Street to allow for a U-turn as part of the detour route. The overall work is anticipated to be complete by November 2018.
