PennDOT District 11 is announcing cable barrier installation on I-79 in Allegheny and Lawrence counties will continue today, Tuesday, August 7 weather permitting.

A single-lane restriction will occur in various locations on northbound I-79 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day through Saturday, August 18 in the following areas:

  • Between the Crafton/Moon Run (Exit 60) interchange and I-279 (Parkway North) merge point in Allegheny County
  • Between Pollock Store Road and the I-79 rest area in Lawrence County

Crews from Penn Line Services, Inc. will conduct the installation work.  PennDOT advises motorists to use caution and slow down when traveling through the area.

Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by visiting 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 860 traffic cameras.

511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional Twitter alerts accessible on the 511PA website.
