The Department of Public Works announced today that New England Road has reopened to traffic about 1,200 feet southeast of Smith’s Lane in West Mifflin Borough. The closure, which began on August 10, 2020, was required for replacement of Pine Run Bridge No. 3. That work included construction of a concrete box culvert with outlet wing walls; installation of scour protection, storm drains, and guide rail; as well as approach roadway work.
As previously announced, part of the 3100 block of New England Road will close starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, October 12, 2020. The closure, which is expected to last until November 2020, is required for replacement of Pine Run Bridge No. 6. That work includes installation of scour protection, storm drains, and guide rail as well as roadway repairs.
When the closure begins, traffic will be detoured using Lewis Run Road and Clairton Road (Route 885).
The work is being done by Pugliano Construction Co., Inc., of Pittsburgh. The Pine Run Bridge No. 3 project was part of the $1.6 million 2019 Capital Bridges contract. The Pine Run Bridge No. 6 emergency project will cost $150,000
