The Department of Public Works announced today that the Panhandle Trail will be closed where it crosses Scotch Hill Road in South Fayette Township from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2022. The closure is required for the placement of five new bridge beams as part of an ongoing Robinson Run South Branch Bridge No. 3 replacement project.
There will be no posted detour for the trail closure. The nearest trail exits are where it crosses Massaro Place south of the closure and Union Avenue north of the closure.
Scotch Hill Road has been closed between Willow Street and Marshall Road since July 5, 2022 as part of the project, which is expected to end in December 2022. Traffic for that closure is being detoured using Mill Street, Noblestown Road, Union Avenue (Route 978), and Marshall Road.
The $992,564 project is being done by Mele & Mele & Sons., Inc., of Braddock.
