The Department of Public Works announced today that Pearce Mill Road between Babcock Boulevard and Tennis Court Road in McCandless has fully reopened to traffic earlier than expected. That section of road has been closed to northbound traffic since June 14, 2021. The restriction was required for widening of the road, installation of additional designated bicycle and pedestrian lanes within North Park, slope and drainage improvements, as well as milling and paving.

Some miscellaneous work is needed before the project is complete. It will require periodic single-lane closures the rest of this week with traffic controlled by flaggers.

The project is being done by Michael Facchiano Contracting, Inc., of Mt. Lebanon. The $2 million cost of construction was paid for by a PennDOT Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF) grant.
