PennDOT District 11 is announcing roadway improvement work on Route 1005 (Mercer Road) in Neshannock and Wilmington townships, Lawrence County will begin Thursday, May 2 weather permitting.

Single-lane alternating traffic controlled by flaggers on Mercer Road between Tanglewood Drive and Means Road in Mercer County will occur weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. through late October. The contractor will mobilize equipment on Wednesday, May 1.

Improvement work includes milling and paving, base repairs, drainage improvements, guide rail upgrades, pavement marking installation, and other miscellaneous construction activities.

Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. is the prime contractor on this $2.01 million project.

Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles, including color-coded winter conditions on 2,900 miles, by visiting 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 860 traffic cameras.
