PennDOT District 11 is announcing improvement work requiring a traffic crossover on Route 19 (Saw Mill Run Boulevard) in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, will begin Friday, May 17 weather permitting.
A long-term traffic crossover will begin Friday and run continuously through late June on Route 19. Northbound traffic will be crossed over into the southbound lanes just north of the Shaler Street Bridge. A single 11-foot lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction of Route 19 in the southbound lanes. When the crossover is implemented crews will conduct concrete pavement restoration work in the northbound lanes.
To allow the crossover to occur, crews will conduct preparatory work including barrier installation, crossover construction, and line painting operations Wednesday through Friday. Motorists should use caution when traveling through the work zone.
The work is part of the $14.55 million improvement project that also includes the replacement of the Shaler Street Bridge over Route 19/51 with Accelerated Bridge Construction techniques, median barrier replacement, lengthening of the Wabash Street deceleration ramp, sign structure replacements, and ramp reconstruction work.
Crews from Swank Construction Company, LLC will conduct the work.
