PennDOT District 11 is announcing replacement work on the Route 51 (Island Avenue) bridge in Stowe Township, Allegheny County, will begin Monday, March 2 weather permitting.

Single-lane alternating traffic controlled by flaggers will occur on Route 51 between Neville Avenue and Walther Street through mid-October according to the following schedule: 

  • Weekdays – 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Weeknights as needed – 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Weekends as needed – 6 p.m. Friday night continuously through 6 a.m. Monday morning

The existing arch culvert will be abandoned and backfilled on this $1.35 million project which also includes retaining wall construction, sanitary sewer and waterline installation, sidewalk and curb repairs, and minor resurfacing work.

Clearwater Construction, Inc. is the prime contractor.
