PennDOT District 11 is announcing improvement work on Route 8 in Hampton and Richland townships, Allegheny County, will begin Monday, May 4 weather permitting.
Beginning at approximately 7 a.m. Monday, single-lane closures will occur on Route 8 in each direction between Wildwood Road and Northtowne Square through early December according to the following schedule:
- Weekdays 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Weeknights 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- 8 p.m. Saturday night through 10 a.m. Sunday morning
- 8 p.m. Sunday night through 6 a.m. Monday morning
Work times will change when higher traffic volumes resume. Additional details will be provided prior to schedule changes.
Crews will conduct milling and paving, concrete patching, bridge preservation, drainage improvements, guiderail updates, curb and sidewalk work, sign improvements, pavement marking installation, and other miscellaneous construction activities.
Derry Construction Company, Inc. is the prime contractor on this $4.26 million betterment job.
Work on this project will be in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which will include protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job-site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the jobsite, and relevant training.
