The Department of Public Works announced today that the stairs located near the Armstrong
Tunnel that go from Second Avenue to the Boulevard of the Allies will close for about two months starting on Monday, October 16. Also, the right lane of Forbes Avenue in front of the Armstrong Tunnel will close for about two months starting on Monday, October 23. The closures are required for work associated with the ongoing Armstrong Tunnel rehabilitation project.
Pedestrians who use the stairs will be detoured using Second Avenue, Ross Street, and Forbes Avenue.
During the lane closure on Forbes Avenue, the other two lanes on the road will remain open. Drivers might experience traffic delays near the Armstrong Tunnel, and they are urged to use caution in the area.
The inbound Armstrong Tunnel remains closed as part of the project.
The $13.1 million project is being done by Mosites Construction Company of Robinson.
