The Department of Public Works announced today that there will be periodic single-lane closures on Braddock Road between Ardmore Boulevard (Route 30) and Brinton Road in Forest Hills and on Wilkins Avenue between Brinton Road and Woodstock Avenue/Hawkins Avenue in Braddock Hills. The traffic restrictions will start at
9 a.m. on Monday, August 28, 2023, and they are expected to end in November. They are required for milling and paving, base repairs, drainage improvements, shoulder work, and guide rail replacement.
Flaggers will be used to control traffic, and drivers can expect to experience short stoppages at work zones.
Later this year, as part of the same project, Wilkins Avenue will fully close between Cross Street and Garfield Avenue for construction of a roadway support structure. Traffic will be detoured using Brinton Road, Yost Boulevard, Sixth Street, Braddock Avenue, Kenmawr Avenue, Talbot Avenue, South Braddock Avenue, and Woodstock Avenue. Residents living within and near the closure area will have access to their homes at all times.
The start date for the full closure has yet to be determined. When a date has been finalized, that information will be provided to the public via press release, Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), Nextdoor, and Allegheny Alerts.
The project will be done by Mele & Mele & Sons, Inc., of Rankin as part of a $7.6 million 2023 Capital Roads contract.
