The Department of Public Works announced today that Wilmerding and Monroeville Road/Patton Street will close between the Tri-Boro Expressway (Route 130) and Monroeville Boulevard in Monroeville and Wilmerding starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, August 15, 2022. The closure, which is expected to end in September, is required for installation of drainage pipes and inlets.

Northbound traffic will be detoured using the Tri-Boro Expressway (Route 130), Brown Avenue (Route 130), Beulah Road (Route 130), Churchill Road, I 376 eastbound, William Penn Highway (Route 22 Business), Stroschein Road, and Monroeville Boulevard. Southbound traffic will be detoured using Monroeville Boulevard, Stroschein Road, William Penn Highway (Route 22 Business), I-376 westbound, Beulah Road (Route 130), Brown Avenue (Route 130), and the Tri-Boro Expressway (Route 130).

Residents will have access to the homes and businesses within the closure area at all times.

When the road reopens, there will periodic single-lane closures until November. Those restrictions are needed for milling and paving, drainage improvements, shoulder work, and guide rail replacement. Flaggers will be used to control traffic, and drivers can expect to experience short stoppages at work zones.

The project is being done by A. Folino Construction, Inc., of Oakmont as part the $7.3 million 2022 Capital Roads contract.
