The Department of Public Works announced that work on Rock Run Road in Elizabeth Township as part of the 2019 Capital Roads Reconstruction Project will begin at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2019.
The project involves three separate parts:
- Rock Run Road between Industry Road and Daggette Drive will close at 6 a.m. on July 23. The closure, which is expected to last at least a week, is required to construct a rock embankment to remediate a landslide and stabilize a slope near the road. Traffic will be detoured using Greenock Buena Vista Road, Ridge Road, Broadlawn Drive, and Scenery Drive (Route 48).
- Work, including paving, drainage repairs, and safety improvements, on Rock Run Road between Scenery Drive (Route 48) and Industry Road will begin at 6 a.m. July 23 and is expected to last until September. Drivers can expect to experience short stoppages in work zones while crews perform their work between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays. Flaggers will be used to control traffic, and drivers are urged to use caution in the area.
- Rock Run Road between Scenery Drive (Route 48) and Cresswood Drive is tentatively planned for closure beginning in early August. The closure, which is expected to last at least a week, is required to regrade and make improvements to the intersection of Rock Run Road and Scenery Drive (Route 48). When the closure is officially scheduled, it will be announced to the public via a release and via the county’s Facebook and Twitter, as well as through Allegheny Alerts.
The $10.7 million 2019 Capital Roads Reconstruction Project is being done by Northeast Paving, a division of Eurovia Atlantic Coast, LLC, of Pittsburgh.
