The Department of Public Works announced today that the Braddock Avenue/Kenmawr Avenue ramp, located between Talbot Avenue and Line Street, in Rankin has reopened to traffic. Also, Fleet Street between Maple Way and West Braddock Avenue, Maple Way between Fleet Street and Pattison Avenue, and Line Street have reopened to traffic. All of those restrictions began on February 26, 2024 except for the Line Street closure, which started on April 15, 2024.

The restrictions were required for replacement of the Braddock Avenue/Kenmawr Avenue ramp, repairs to the Rankin Bridge ramp, and reconstruction of the Braddock Avenue/Kenmawr Avenue/Talbot Avenue intersection. Work during the project has included new pavement, sidewalk, curb, drainage, barrier and guide rail, traffic signals, roadway lighting, signage, and pavement markings.

Additional work at the Braddock Avenue/Kenmawr Avenue/Talbot Avenue intersection and permanent pavement markings, including those used for bike lanes, will be completed as part of the project next year. That will require a closure of the Talbot Avenue ramp between Braddock Avenue/Kenmawr Avenue and Fleet Street as well as closure of the southbound lane of Kenmawr Avenue between Carrie Furnace Boulevard and Braddock Avenue.

The exact start date for those traffic restrictions have yet to be determined. When plans are finalized, that information will be provided to the public via press release, Facebook, Instagram, X, Nextdoor, and Allegheny Alerts. The restrictions are expected to end during fall 2025.

Mosites Construction Company of Robinson is the primary construction contractor for the $9.3 million project.
