You’ll save time, avoid congestion, and do your part to clean our air!

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing washing activities on various ramps associated with the I-579 Veterans Bridge over the Allegheny River in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County will begin Tuesday, March 31 weather permitting.

Overnight single-lane restrictions and traffic shifts will occur from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM each weeknight through Friday, April 3 in the following locations:

  • Southbound Route 28 ramp to southbound I-579 Veterans Bridge
  • Northbound I-579 Veterans Bridge ramp to northbound Route 28/Etna
  • Southbound I-579 Veterans Bridge ramp to 6th Avenue/7th Avenue
  • Bigelow Boulevard ramp to northbound I-579 Veterans Bridge

Crews from Green Acres Contracting will conduct bridge washing activities.

Please stay alert and drive cautiously – safety is everyone’s responsibility.
