PennDOT District 11 is announcing lane restrictions for mobile line painting operations on northbound I-79 and Route 51 in Kennedy, Robinson, and Neville townships, and Glenfield Borough, Allegheny County will begin Monday, September 30 weather permitting.

Single-lane mobile restrictions will occur in the following locations each weekday through mid-October for line painting operations:

  • Northbound I-79 between the Route 60 Crafton/Moon Run (Exit 60) interchange and the Neville Island Bridge from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Route 51 in both directions between the northbound and southbound on-ramps at the I-79 Coraopolis/McKees Rocks interchange from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This work is weather dependent and may not occur each day.

This work is part of the $43.9 million I-79 “S-Bend” Project that includes full-depth pavement reconstruction, bridge preservation work on five mainline structures (I-79 northbound and southbound over Clever Road, I-79 northbound and southbound over Route 51, and the Neville Island Bridge). Additionally, there will be milling and paving of three ramps at the Route 51 (Coraopolis/McKees Rocks) interchange. The project also includes guiderail replacement, highway lighting and signing upgrades, new pavement markings and delineation, and other miscellaneous construction work.
