The Department of Public Works announced today that Penn Avenue Extension in Wilkins and Turtle Creek will close between Aliquippa Street and the Tri-Boro Expressway (Route 130) starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025. The closure is expected to end in October 2025. It is required for construction of a retaining wall, pavement and sidewalk reconstruction, utility work, and guide rail replacement near Aliquippa Street.

Traffic will be detoured using Graham Boulevard, William Penn Highway, Beulah Road (Route 130), Brown Avenue (Route 130), and Tri-Boro Expressway (Route 130).

Residents living within the closure area will have access to the homes at all times.

Penn Avenue Extension is used by an average of 3,938 drivers daily.

A. Merante Contracting of West Mifflin is the primary construction contractor for the $463,000 project.
