PennDOT District 11 is reminding motorists the closure of the northbound I-79 off-ramp to Neville Island in Neville Township, Allegheny County will begin tonight, Monday, October 7 weather permitting.
Beginning at 7 p.m. Monday night, the Neville Island (Exit 65) ramp that carries traffic from northbound I-79 to Grand Avenue will close to traffic around-the-clock through Monday, November 25 as crews conduct deck repair work. All ramp traffic will be detoured.

- Continue on northbound I-79 past the closed ramp
- Take the Route 65/Emsworth/Sewickley (Exit 66) exit
- Keep left towards Glenfield
- Turn left onto Deer Run Road
- Turn left onto the ramp to southbound I-79 toward Washington
- Take the Route 51/Neville Island (Exit 65) exit
- End Detour
This work is part of the $43.9 million I-79 “S-Bend” Project that includes full-depth pavement reconstruction, bridge preservation work on five mainline structures (I-79 northbound and southbound over Clever Road, I-79 northbound and southbound over Route 51, and the Neville Island Bridge). The project also includes guiderail replacement, highway lighting and signing upgrades, new pavement markings and delineation, and other miscellaneous construction work.
