PennDOT District 11 is announcing single-lane restrictions on Route 28 in O’Hara, Harmar, Springdale, Frazer and East Deer townships, Allegheny County, will continue Tuesday, May 28, weather permitting.

Single-lane restrictions will continue in both directions on mainline Route 28 according to the following schedule:

Northbound

  • Restrictions from the RIDC Park (Exit 10) interchange to the Russelton/Creighton (Exit 13) interchange weekdays from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Southbound

  • Restrictions from the Russelton/Creighton (Exit 13) interchange to the RIDC Park (Exit 10) interchange daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.

This work is weather dependent and restrictions may not occur daily. Restrictions are anticipated to continue through the end of 2024 as crews from Swank Construction Company conduct miscellaneous construction activities.

This work is part of the $27.68 million highway restoration project on Route 28 between Harmar/I-76/Route 910 (Exit 11) and Russelton/Creighton (Exit 13) interchanges. Construction has included milling and resurfacing, concrete pavement preservation, bridge rehabilitation and preservation, guide rail and drainage improvements, ITS upgrades, highway lighting, traffic signals, ADA curb ramps installation, signing and pavement marking, and other miscellaneous operations. Work is expected to conclude late 2024.
