PennDOT District 11 is announcing a crossover traffic pattern on Route 8 (William Flinn Highway) in Hampton Township, Allegheny County will begin Monday, September 23 weather permitting.

​Beginning at approximately 9 a.m. on Monday, a long-term, around-the-clock crossover will occur on Route 8 between Duncan Avenue and Harts Run Road. The following traffic patterns will be implemented: 

  • Northbound Route 8 traffic will be crossed over into the southbound lanes from Monday, September 23 through Thursday, October 3.  One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction in the crossed over section.
  • Southbound Route 8 will be crossed over into the northbound lanes from Friday, October 4 through Tuesday, October 15. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction in the crossed over section.

Crews from A. Folino Construction, Inc. will conduct expansion dam replacement work. Please use caution when traveling through the area. Motorists should expect delays.

The work is part of a $13.59 million project that includes milling and resurfacing of the existing asphalt roadway, minor bridge preservation work, guide rail updates, minor drainage updates, traffic signal upgrades, and pavement marking/delineation updates between Spencer Lane Extension and the Butler County line. Motorists can expect weeknight single-lane restrictions, daily weekend restrictions, and a long-term lane closure between Spencer Lane and Butler Plank Road in Shaler Township.
