PennDOT District 11 is announcing inspection activities on the West End Bridge (Route 19) in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, will resume Monday, March 24 weather permitting.

A single-lane restriction will occur on the bridge from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through mid-April.

Additionally, inspection work will occur in the following locations:

  • The southbound Route 65 off-ramp to Reedsdale Street. Lane narrowing and shoulder restrictions will occur weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through mid-April.
  • Westbound West Carson Street (Route 837) bypass ramp to northbound Route 51. The ramp will close to traffic weeknights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through mid-April. Motorists will continue on West Carson Street past the closed ramp to the West End Circle and continue straight onto Route 51 North toward McKees Rocks.
  • The eastbound underpass of the West End Circle from southbound Route 51 to West Carson Street (Route 837). The ramp will close weeknights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through mid-April. Traffic will be detoured.

Southbound Route 51 to West Carson Street (Route 837)

  • From southbound Route 51, take the ramp to South 837 to East 376 toward Downtown
  • Stay in the left lane on Steuben Street
  • Turn left onto Short Street toward Crafton/Downtown
  • Turn left toward West End Bridge/Downtown
  • Stay right toward Downtown/South Side
  • Follow the South 837/East 376 Downtown/South Side sign to West Carson Street (Route 837)
  • End detour

Crews from Modjeski and Masters Inc., will conduct the bridge inspection work.
