PennDOT District 11 is announcing paving operations on westbound (inbound) I-376 (Parkway East) in Churchill Borough, Wilkins Township, and the Municipality of Monroeville, Allegheny County will occur Wednesday morning, May 14 through Saturday, May 17 weather permitting.

Paving operations requiring restrictions on westbound I-376 will occur between the Old William Highway Overpass in Monroeville and the Penn Hills (Exit 81) interchange according to the following schedule:

  • Westbound I-376 will be reduced to a single-lane of traffic from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Wednesday and Thursday nights
  • Westbound I-376 will be reduced to a single-lane of traffic from 9 p.m. Friday night to noon on Saturday
  • A single-lane restriction will occur Wednesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day

Motorists should allow extra time if traveling through the corridor.

The on and off-ramps at the Penn Hills (Exit 81) interchange will close overnights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday nights and from 9 p.m. Friday night through Saturday at noon.  Crews will conduct ramp reconstruction work.  Ramp traffic will be detoured.

  • Continue on westbound I-376 past the closed ramp
  • Take the left-hand Churchill (Exit 79B) off-ramp
  • Turn left onto Beulah Road (Route 130)
  • Turn left onto Churchill Road
  • Take the ramp to eastbound I-376
  • From eastbound I-376 take the Business 22/Monroeville (Exit 80) off-ramp
  • Turn left onto Rodi Road
  • End detour

Rodi Road on-ramp to westbound I-376

  • Continue on Rodi Road past the closed ramp
  • Take the East 376/22 ramp toward Murrysville
  • From eastbound I-376, take the Plum (Exit 84B) off-ramp
  • From Haymaker Road, take the ramp to West 376/22 toward Pittsburgh
  • Follow westbound I-376 back to the closed Penn Hills on-ramp
  • End detour

Additional work includes guide rail installation, line striping, and sawing and sealing operations. Lane restrictions will be removed if the work is completed early.

This work is part of the $70.1 million I-376 Parkway East Betterment Project. Work will include a superstructure replacement over Old William Penn Highway, two bridge rehabilitations over Old William Penn Highway/Lougeay Road/Sunset Drive and Thompson Run Road/Thompson Run/Union Railroad, and six bridge preservations along the I-376. Throughout the project motorists can expect long-term single-lane restrictions, several weekends with traffic down to a single lane, and a long-term crossover in 2025. The improvements on the 4.5 miles of the Parkway East between the Churchill/Route 130 (Exit 79B) and Monroeville/Route 48 (Exit 84A) exit are anticipated to conclude in the fall 2026. Swank Construction Company, LLC is the prime contractor.
