Only 38 days remain until I-376 Parkway East closes for approximately 25 days. Are you ready?

PennDOT is set to replace the aging Commercial Street Bridge, located between the Squirrel Hill Tunnel and the Edgewood/Swissvale Exit 77 on I-376 Parkway East, to enhance safety and mobility for commuters in Pittsburgh. To ensure the work is completed efficiently, Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) techniques will necessitate a full closure of I-376 Parkway East from July 10th to August 3rd.

PennDOT advises employers in the affected areas and near alternative routes to provide flexibility for their employees. This may include options for remote work and adjusted start and end times to help avoid peak traffic.

For those who need to work in person, carpooling or utilizing public transit is strongly encouraged.

To help reduce disruptions and maintain safe travel for everyone, please consider the following options:

  • Work Remotely or Adjust Your Schedule: If possible, take advantage of remote work or flexible hours to steer clear of heavy congestion.

  • Carpool or Use Public Transit: Sharing rides or opting for public transit can alleviate traffic and make your commute more manageable. Additional Park & Ride locations will be available here.

  • Plan Ahead: Familiarize yourself with detour maps, allocate extra travel time, and think about rescheduling non-essential in-person meetings during the closure period.

  • Stay Informed: Call 511 or download the 511PA mobile app, access real-time traffic updates at 511PA.com, or visit pa.gov/CommercialStBridge.
