Long-term restrictions start Tuesday continuously through mid-June
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing lane restrictions on I-376 (Parkway East) in the Municipality of Monroeville, Allegheny County will continue Tuesday, May 12 weather permitting.
Westbound Interstate 376 will be reduced to a single-lane of traffic between the Monroeville/Plum (Exit 84 A/B) and Penn Hills (Exit 81) interchanges according to the follow schedule:
- Wednesday night, May,13 at 9:00 PM through 5:00 AM Thursday, May 14
- Thursday night, May 14 at 9:00 PM through 5:00 AM Friday, May 15
- Friday night, May 15 at 9:00 PM continuously through 5:00 AM Monday, May 18
Crews will conduct bridge deck milling and concrete overlay installation work.
Additionally, a long-term single-lane restriction will be implemented on westbound I-376 between the Monroeville/Plum (Exit 84 A/B) and Penn Hills (Exit 81) interchanges from 9:00 AM Tuesday morning, May 12 continuously through mid-June. Crews will conduct bridge deck milling and overlay work, drainage improvements, and shoulder repairs. The on-ramp from Haymaker Road to westbound I-376 will be placed in a stop condition.
This work is part of the $70.1 million I-376 Parkway East Betterment Project. Work will include a superstructure replacement over Old William Penn Highway, two bridge rehabilitations over Old William Penn Highway/Lougeay Road/Sunset Drive and Thompson Run Road/Thompson Run/Union Railroad, and six bridge preservations along the I-376. Throughout the project motorists can expect long-term single-lane restrictions, several weekends with traffic down to a single lane, and a long-term crossover in 2025. The improvements on the 4.5 miles of the Parkway East between the Churchill/Route 130 (Exit 79B) and Monroeville/Route 48 (Exit 84A) exit are anticipated to conclude in the fall 2026. Swank Construction Company, LLC is the prime contractor.
