Closure necessary for work zone safety for Jacks Run Bridge project.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing the closure of the outbound I-279 and I-579 High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes in the City of Pittsburgh and Ross Township, Allegheny County will occur Thursday and Friday nights, July 16-17 weather permitting.

To ensure work zone safety at the Jacks Run Road Bridge, the HOV lanes will close to traffic in the outbound (northbound) direction according to the following schedule:

Thursday, July 16

  • From 8:00 PM until the directional switch is made for the morning rush hour

Friday, July 17

  • From 8:00 PM to 10:00 AM

The HOV lanes will return to normal operations after the Friday night closure is lifted.
