Inbound closure during morning commute hours.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing the closure of the I-279 and I-579 High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes in the City of Pittsburgh and Ross Township, Allegheny County will occur Wednesday, August 26 weather permitting.
To accommodate emergency maintenance repair work due to damage caused at the Bedford Avenue gate, the HOV lanes will not open to inbound (southbound) traffic Wednesday, August 26.
As a reminder, the HOV lanes will close to traffic in the outbound (northbound) direction at 8:00 PM tonight, Tuesday, August 25. They will remain closed through 3:00 PM Wednesday, August 26.
The HOV lanes will return to normal operations outside of the closures listed above.
