Around-the-clock closure for electrical repair work

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing an around-the-clock closure of the I-279 and I-579 High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes in the City of Pittsburgh and Ross Township, Allegheny County occur Tuesday, April 28 through Saturday night, May 2.

The HOV lanes will close to traffic beginning at approximately 7:00 AM Tuesday continuously through 5:00 PM Saturday. The around-the-clock closure will allow crews from Swank Construction Company to conduct fiber optic splicing and repair work.

Drivers can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,200 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
