Mark your calendars for June 28th and July 26th as OpenStreetsPGH returns to transform Pittsburgh’s streets into vibrant spaces for community and activity! Whether you prefer to walk, run, bike, skate, roll, or dance, this event invites you to enjoy the road at your own pace.

OpenStreetsPGH, organized by the dedicated team at Bike Pittsburgh, offers a unique opportunity to experience the city’s streets like never before. By temporarily closing roads to car traffic, it allows Pittsburghers to reimagine these spaces as lively, people-centric zones. The event is part of a global movement that encourages car-free transportation, promotes healthy outdoor activity, and fosters community engagement.

Participants can dive into a variety of free activities. The wellness hub offers fitness classes suitable for all levels, while the kids hub provides a space for young ones to learn biking skills and tackle adventure courses. With over 50 local organizations hosting enjoyable activities, there’s something for everyone to explore. Don’t forget to grab a bite from local vendors offering delicious options to fuel your day.

Stay Safe at OpenStreetsPGH

The safety and security of our participants is always a top priority at OpenStreetsPGH. Check out our Safety Rules of the Route to get familiar with how to participate safely at OpenStreetsPGH. In addition to BikePGH Staff, we have teams of emergency responders on-site to respond to any medical or security emergencies. We encourage all participants to be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious activity to a staff member or safety officials. By working together, we can create a safe and enjoyable event for everyone.

    • THIS ISN’T A RACE. There’s no start or finish line.

    • Keep a SAFE SPEED. Slower movers, please keep right.

    • BE MINDFUL. Routes are not always linear. Stay aware of your surroundings + kids, cyclists, dancers, skaters, walkers.

    • KEEP MOVING. Never stop in the middle of the route. Need to take a photo, talk to friends, or take a break? Head to the sidewalk.

    • PASS ON THE LEFT. Be sure to let folks know when you are passing them by saying, “On your left!”

    • CROSS SAFELY. Pay attention to volunteers, staff, public safety officials at all dismount zones and traffic crossings.

    • ASK FOR HELP. Need directions, a repair, or assistance? Just ask staff & volunteers!

In case of emergency, always call 911 first and tell them you are at OpenStreetsPGH and your location along the route.
